PMs and notifications
« on: October 12, 2009, 02:40:47 PM »
Hi all,

Is anyone experiencing problems with receiving PMs and/or notifications?

P.S. Seasiren, I send you a PM, which I received correctly. Did you receive my reply?

Fred

Since when?  I don't think so, anyway.
No clever saying today.  Maybe tomorrow.

Hey Selski,

What problems have you been having? I've been kind of distracted from the forum recently, but didn't realise there were any issues. If you let me kow, I'll look into them.

Bee and I PM'd the other week and that worked fine - at least for me. Bee, did you get my reply to your PM?

Hi Chris

I've not been getting notifications via e-mail of either PMs or thread replies.  I changed my account settings yonks ago to try and "trigger" it to work...but it never did.  I'm kind of used to not getting anything now, but it would be lovely if you could work it out.  :-)

Hi all,

For now, I don`t seem to able to find a solution to the problem of not receiving notifications through email. Perhaps Chris has some better ideas, or any idea.

The PM system itself should be working however, as far as I can tell. It`s the email notifications that do not seem to work for some people, while they do for others.

My best guess for the time being is that some providers pick up emails send from this forum as `spam` and they never let it through the recipient. This would explain why it works for some, and not for others.

Not quite sure how to resolve that issue yet, if that is the issue to begin with. Chris? :)

Fred

I didn't receive any email notification for any post after mine so, it's not working for me either. It's not too much of a problem since I usually drop in once a day.

Fred's possibly correct in that providers might be stopping messages before they are sent to the recipient. If this is the case, the messages are usually bounced back to sender.
We might be able to alter this address to a working mail account to see if we do get any bounced messages back.
Issues like this can be fiddly to sort out, but I'll keep looking into it.

There are still no notifications. So the issue can't and won't be fixed?

We hope it is working as intended now for everyone.

Make sure to choose the right settings in your profile, whether you want instant notification, or not, etc...
